More Excitement
at Brighter Future Childrens’ Homes
The children were very pleased to welcome Louise, the Trust
Officer, of the Leprosy Mission in England and Wales, when
she included The Rainbow Children and Prem Nivas on her
itinerary of visits to India, Sri Lanka and Nepal. This
time Louise Aunty brought Clare, a friend, with her. Together
they visited the proposed project to build new houses for
leprosy families in Poolbagh and Narasannapeta. This gave
them the opportunity to meet the ladies who come to our
adjacent Narasannapeta Community centre to collect their
food and medicine parcels that Brighter Future gives to
these HIV patients every month.
Besides having a special lunch with the Prem Nivas children,
seeing the new school, showing them photos and listening
to their songs Louise and Clare also spent a happy time
with the Rainbow children at DMC house. Songs and dances
were appreciated and Clare won great applause when she joined
in the dancing.
Brighter
Future Primary School
We are now assured of two government teachers
for the new school year in June. However, to get recognition
as a school, we have to negotiate the minefield of getting
certificates from many government offices.
Victor and I visited the education department
in Vizianagaram and left with a potential bill of about
£2000 and a huge bundle of forms. If we are to be
recognized this academic year, 2010/11, we have to pay a
fine for 5 months at 10000 Rupees per month. If we don’t
want to be recognized until 2012 we would not have to pay
any fine. In any case we have to pay 25000 rupees to the
state government for recognition which is supposed to be
a bond and be repayable after 8 years!

DMC HOUSE
anniversary
February 26th was the day that DMC house
was opened in 2006. DMC House was named in memory of Dorothy
May C…. by her husband who was largely responsible
for Brighter Future being able to buy the building to be
a permanent home for children.
All the children, staff and trustees marked
the day with prayers, namaskars, speeches, songs and dances.
A special meal was served to all in the evening. A huge
cake with the words “Happy 4th Birthday D M C House’
was served at snacks time. Our most honoured guest was Danny
, Chair of Brighter Future International Trust, who is Victor
the Director’s elder brother. We were very pleased
to see their Mother and Father at the ceremonies too.
Prem Nivas
gets a Visitor from England

Danny came to see the children at Prem
Nivas on 25th February and was welcomed with the traditional
floor paintings and welcome cards songs and dances. He brought
fruit juice and oranges for the children, things for our
use in school, some little toys and a box of tea bags for
me!
It was the first time that he had seen
the Prem Nivas campus, although Danny was here when it was
an old people’s home. Prem Nivas started with the
one main hall and a dining room in October 2006 but now
we have the Betty Lawes extension on top of the original
building. and another large building in the grounds, which
was opened in March 2008, that can accommodate 20 children.
The numbers of HIV children at Prem Nivas
continue to grow, with three new boys last week we now have
39 children.
The Prem Nivas children are hoping
that Danny Uncle will come and spend a day and a night with
them.
